Weimar, Germany

During the drive from Frankfurt to Berlin, we drove past Wartburg Castle, where Martin Luther lived while in exhile and where he translated the Bible into German; the town of Eisenach, where Johann Sebastian Bach was born; three castles built by the same king: one for his wife, one for his mistress, and one for himself; and the tower at the Buchenwald concentration camp, which was known for medical experiments on prisoners and where 60,000 people died.

We stopped in the town of Weimar for lunch. Weimar was the home of Goethe, Schiller, and Wagner, and many other poets and musicians. It is a quaint town with lots of restaurants, bakeries, and shops.
